Meet Jack Story
StoryNet USA Webmaster

Greetings Story Cousins,

Over the past 4 years, I have corresponded with many of you regarding our common heritage and the history of our surname. I am pleased to provide the Story Genealogy Research Library as a forum to exchange information and to meet new cousins who share the various spellings of Story, Storey, Storie etc.

I owe my interest in family history to my grandfather, Gillet (Jack) Story, who posthumously shared his love of family history by leaving behind a wealth of information, pictures and family heirlooms. Grandpa Story died in 1965 when I was 8 years old, and it wasn't until I was grown that I fully appreciated what he had done for his posterity by saving so many items from our Story ancestors. I think grandpa would be pleased to see how his efforts have not been in vain, and that he would heartily approve of StoryNet.

StoryNet is designed to be a clearing house of research information for our surname. In it you will find information submitted by other researchers as well as links to various Interent sites that have Story / Storey / Storie information. Since StoryNet was first put on-line in 1998, the response has been amazing. Over 30,000 hits and many supportive comments from the users. Your comments and encouragement are very much appreciated and welcome. Design and upkeep of StoryNet are time consuming, but it is a labor of love.

The newly designed Story Genealogy Research Network is meant to be a more concise format and easily navigable. The drop down options will lead you to the various research material that was on the old Library, and on the right side of the main page will be current items about Story research, or special features that will be added to StoryNet from time to time.

Finally, I am indebted to many people for making this project possible. My wife Pat, who indulges me by walking through graveyards with me, and acts interested when I speak of some ancient Story history, even though I know she would rather talk of something else. My 84 year old father, Robert Story, who gives me inspiration to continue my research and to whom I run to share every new bit of information that I find about our ancestors. I never tire of hearing dad speak about the "old days" and of his childhood memories .
I am thankful for the many cousins that I have met through this forum, and the relationships that have grown into true friendships.
And lastly, to my son, David Story, who designed and edited the new StoryNet, and painstakingly incorporated the changes requested by his perfectionist father!

Please use StoryNet to benefit your research and I would be grateful to have you send me an e-mail with your comments or critique of the site, to talk about our Story heritage, or simply to get acquainted.

To all those Story's, Storey's and Storie's who have gone before us, I dedicate this effort.
