Kilmore Cathedral
County Cavan

Pictured here standing in front of the tree planted by Bishop Bedell in 1650, are Daniel and Karlie Story (from the U.S.) along with Anne Storey of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Buried at Kilmore, alongside Bishop Bedell, are the famous Storys of Bingfield, Crossdoney, who originated at Hexham, settled first at Corick, Co. Tyrone & then moved to Crossdoney. They contributed much to County Cavan and to Kilmore in particular. Admiral William Oswald Story (see Famous Irish Storys) would have attended Kilmore Cathedral in the late 1800s. A book written by Wendy Swan "All Lovely Kilmore" is a fascinating account of the Kilmore community and County Cavan history. The "Friends of Kilmore" exists to promote and preserve the wonderful history of this Ancient Cathedral. Kilmore is a MUST for all visitors to County Cavan.

The Kilmore Church, See House & the Story Connections there are many!

Joseph Story of nearby Bingfield, served as Bishop of Kilmore Cathedral 1742-1767.
